In our January edition of Enjoying MG we looked at the basics of putting together a colour and style plan for your MG rebuild at the very beginning of the project. Many of you contacted us to request the “colour planner” and asked for advice in putting their schemes together. Now let’s take a look at some finished cars to see the practical fulfilment of these original concepts. Thanks to those of you who sent in photos and details of your cars for this article. This 1971 MGB Roadster has been the subject of nut and bolt re build using a Heritage bodyshell by Barrie Dolphin who lives in the West Midlands. The body colour is Rover Nightfire Red, which is a metallic two pack finish, and features an aluminium MGC bonnet. Time was spent choosing the wheels, and having borrowed a set of chrome wire wheels, Barrie felt that the 15″ knock on alloys best suited the car. The exterior is finished off with a Mohair hood with the cream fabric lining. The interior displays classical luxury features, using magnolia rouched leather with champagne colour carpets, and the dashboard, door cappings and centre console in burr walnut. The steering wheel is Momo polished wood to match. Under the bonnet is immaculate with a 1950cc Stage 2 engine Weber carb, and Stainless Steel manifold and exhaust. As you can see this car really turns heads, and with the extra performance must be a joy to drive.

Martin Evans beautiful MGB GT V8 is finished in Midnight Blue, a colour which is so much at home with MG models that you could be forgiven for thinking it was original. To provide a great contrast to this sombre tone, the seats and panels are again finished in rouched magnolia leather. The re trimmed rear seat completes the effect. The carpets are dark blue/navy and the door cappings navy vinyl. Steering wheel and dashboard are standard.

This Midget belongs to Tim Fenna from Bath, and has undergone a complete rebuild. To compliment the Metallic British Racing Green paintwork the interior has a grey theme. Many of you have asked if the Club Sports Recliners will fit in a Midget and this car is proof not only that they do, but that they look fantastic! These seats feature distinctive green piping to match the exterior body colour and pear shaped leather headrests. The dashboard is finished in the same exterior colour, and contrasts beautifully with the grey vinyl crash rail. The door panels are also Club style with half carpets, and chrome winder handles. Carpets are grey deluxe, with a specially made tunnel section to fit around the gearstick which is in a new position from being converted to a 5 speed gearbox.
