Cosford Take 2 – West Midlands Regional Event 5th September

Getting people to attend events on Saturdays can be difficult, with lots of us tied up with family commitments or working. However, in spite of this over seventy cars turned up on the day, covering a wide range of MGs from a 1930’s J2 to a brand new TF. Obviously, after our last visit to Cosford we were all watching the weather very closely and apart from being a little breezy, which in-fact turned out to be the tail end of hurricane Danny, would you believe, we were spared the rain.

Organiser’s lunch
The main reason for organising this event was to give everyone the chance of enjoying the excellent facilities at Cosford, whilst being able to display their cars without the diabolical conditions we experienced back on the 17th May. We were able to conduct a very civilised concours competition organised on a self-judging basis, supervised by Roger Parker from MGOC headquarters. There was keen competition for those excellent trophies which were awarded to well deserved winners.

This being a free event, was open to all MG owners and the local clubs were invited to set up club stands, In the end only the Staffordshire Moorlands club actually did so, with all flags flying. Although there were individual entries from, most of the clubs in the region on the day, resulting in a definite absence of “us and them”, with everyone mixing in together.
John Mole, John Roden, Alan Simpson and Alan Heeley, all members of the original organising committee were busy all day, making sure everything went smoothly. Dianne and Pat handled all of the admin and were glad of the protection from the wind which our “new” control tent provided. Also the bottle of wine supplied by John Roden was much appreciated.
Once again our friends from “I Love My MGF” supported the event, offering an excellent range of MGF/TF spares. Also thanks to Dave Ellis and Pete Walker for supplying the photos.
Kath Titley from the Air Ambulance came along to receive a cheque for £2100 raised from the main event, topped up by the proceeds of the Kimber raffle.
All in all, this was a nice friendly, relaxed event attended by a great bunch of people. Many thanks to all concerned.
