Excellent weather, good marshalling and an MG to drive makes the Regency Run an enduring joy. Many of us travelling down to Crystal Palace for the start had a foggy trip but by the time the first MG was flagged away the sun was shinning brightly.

The tulip diagram route book provided a clear guide and participants had a choice of two scenic journeys down to the famous south coast seaside resort. Over 800 MGs took part in the event and by the time they had made their way down the twisty country lanes and assembled on Maderia Drive they stretched almost out of sight in the coastal mist that shrouded the front at Brighton.
