Snowdrop Run 2008
It’s always a great feeling to be sweeping along twisty country lanes in your MG with the hood down under a bright blue sky above, but not an experience you normally expect to enjoy in February. This year’s Snowdrop Run organised by Cambridge and District MGOC took place on a crisp but very bright Saturday and the route through pretty villages and scenic countryside was neatly contained within the borders of Cambridgeshire. While other motorists were engaged on shopping trips jostling for a space in the local supermarket car parks, ninety-one MGs and other classics threaded their way between Wimpole Hall and Anglesey Abbey, two local National Trust places of great historical and horticultural interest. The final destination was the Winter Gardens at Anglesey Abbey in order to admire the Snowdrops in particular.
The oldest car on the run was a 1933 Austin 12 Hearse, its owner Jack Harris omitted the description hearse when he booked his place on the run. Needless to say the special coachwork caused a great deal of interest on the run. The furthest travelled entrants on the run were Ray and Jan Tennant from Eastbourne in their 2004 MG TF.
Cambridge and District MGOC raised £1200 for charity with the Snowdrop Run.
