MGOC announces New Track Day Partnership
In recent editions of Enjoying MG we’ve observed that more and more members want to use their MGs rather than attend static shows. In response, the MGOC has entered into a partnership with MGs on Track (MGoT), an established track day organiser dedicated to MG enthusiasts.

The key to this partnership is that MGoT is not a commercial organisation, but run as a club for MG enthusiasts by MG enthusiasts. The philosophy is simple, to organise fun, sociable track days where MG enthusiasts can enjoy their cars in safety with fellow enthusiasts and at the best possible price. Helping MGOC Regions and Areas run events
One of the important aspects of this partnership is that MGoT can help local groups of MG enthusiasts like MGOC’s regions and areas to organise track days – either by providing advice and guidance or by partnering to minimise financial risk.
There are already examples of both approaches. MGoT provided encouragement and support to Andy Harris in his successful Goodwood events in Feb 2005 and Feb 2006. The Midget & Sprite club in the North West have a dedicated session on MGoT’s Croft track day later this year, enabling 15 cars to enjoy a day on track, with MGoT handling the 30 remaining places necessary to make the day financially viable.

Go along to an MGoT track day and you’ll be amazed at how many people do. The average driver at an MGoT track day is just like you – an MG enthusiast who takes great care of their car and would not want to take any risks with it.
How on earth can they be prepared to drive on a race circuit?
The fun factor. Unsurprisingly, high on the list of reasons is the amount of fun you can have.
The quality of our public roads with pot-holes and speed bumps lying in wait for you at every bend and the sheer weight of traffic make everyday driving more and more of a drudge even in our beloved MGs. In contrast, race circuits provide a wonderfully smooth piece of tarmac with no oncoming traffic, no road junctions, no traffic lights and no speed cameras.
Driving circuits like Brands Hatch, Silverstone or Donington, putting together sweeping bend after sweeping bend, at your own pace, with little distraction, can bring back the sheer joy of driving.
